Overview

The RSS Feed widget allows you to display the contents of public RSS feeds from external websites in your digital workplace. Users can click the titles of these feeds to go to the source content to read more.

Configuration settings

Options tab

Title

Enter a title for the Widget. The title appears as a heading above the Widget's contents. You should use the title to provide users with an idea of why the Widget's content is important to them or to highlight the content's purpose. Titles also serve to better structure the content of a page by clearly denoting different sections. 

When entering a title, you do so only for your currently selected language. If your digital workplace supports multiple languages, you should click the field's Translation button () and enter a title for each supported language.

Description

Enter a description for the Widget. The description appears between the title and the Widget's contents. You can use this text to provide additional context to the Widget or instructions for using the Widget.

Feed URLs

Enter the URL of an RSS feed. This URL must be public and not require authentication. An example of an RSS Feed is https://rss.cbc.ca/lineup/sports-nhl.xml.

To add additional RSS feeds to the widget, click + Add Another to add another text box where you can enter the URL of an RSS Feed.

To remove an RSS feed from the widget, click the X next to its URL.

Number of results

Enter the maximum number of results to display. You must enter a value between 1 and 99. Users cannot load additional results.

Layout tab

Date

Select whether the date of the feed item is shown under its title.

Source

Select whether the source of the feed item is shown under its title.

Body

Select whether the body of the feed item is shown under its title. Depending on the feed, this may not be the entire body.

Appearance tab

Use the Class field to add custom CSS to this Widget. 

Your digital workplace's CSS theme overrides the other settings on this tab.
