Overview

When troubleshooting SSO sign-in issues in your digital workplace with the Igloo Support team, they will often ask you to provide them with a SAML trace. For this trace to be effective, you must have your browser's monitoring tools open and configured properly while you repeat the action leading to the issue you are experiencing. Once you have captured and exported a SAML trace, you can attach the trace file to your communications with the Igloo Support team.  

How to capture a SAML trace with Chrome (SAML Tracer extension)

1. Install the SAML Tracer browser extension. 
2. Go to the SSO sign-in page of your digital workplace but don't sign in.
3. Next to the address bar, click SAML Tracer  to start logging. SAML Tracer will open in a new window and begin logging traffic.
4. With the SAML Tracer window open, sign in to your digital workplace.
5. After attempting to sign in, click Export in the SAML Tracer logging window to start exporting the log file.
6. When asked for your export preferences, select Mask values, and then click Export to save the file to your computer.
7. Attach the JSON log file to your communications with the Igloo Support team.

How to capture a SAML trace with Microsoft Edge

1. Go to the SSO sign-in page of your digital workplace but don't sign in.
2. Press F12 (Command+Option+I for Mac) to open the developer tools window.
3. In the developer tools, select the Network tab.
4. Configure how the tool records activity.
   1. Select Preserve log.
   2. Select Disable cache.
   3. Click Clear to remove any existing activity.
5. With the developer tools open, attempt to sign in to your digital workplace.
6. After attempting to sign in, click Export HAR... (found at the top of the Network tab) and save the file to your computer.
7. Attach the HAR file to your communications with the Igloo Support team.

How to capture a SAML trace with Firefox (SAML Tracer add-on)

1. Install the SAML Tracer browser add-on.
2. Go to the SSO sign-in page of your digital workplace but don't sign in.
3. Next to the address bar, click SAML Tracer to start logging. SAML Tracer will open in a new window and begin logging traffic.
4. With the SAML Tracer window open, sign in to your digital workplace.
5. After attempting to sign in, click Export in the SAML Tracer logging window to start exporting the log file.
6. When asked for your export preferences, select Mask values, and then click Export to save the file to your computer.
7. Attach the JSON log file to your communications with the Igloo Support team.
