Content Slideshow - read more link to
The content slideshow we are using at the top of our homepage is set to go to a blog titled "featured news" and that is where all the articles are. But sometimes our stakeholders would like the 'read more' on the content slideshow to go to a page within their hub/space to not have to write an article twice. We were provided with the directions below as a workaround however, and I understand how to create a shortcut, we are unable to figure out how to have the 'read more' navigate to that shortcut. Any help would be appreciated:
We need an additional solution for linking to one or two carousel stories to different sections – not all carousel news will require a blog under featured news - This is a product idea as it is not a feature yet built in that widget. You can request that here: https://customercare.igloosoftware.com/support/product_zone . You could also leverage URL Shortcuts to re-direct people to specific areas within the site. For example, you could create an article for “Policy Review”, but when a user clicks on the “Read More”, people get redirected to their HR Hub. Here is an article on how to do this: https://support.igloosoftware.com/hc/en-us/articles/9478540541716-URL-shortcuts
1 Conclusion
Hi LeAnne Dennis,
To get the "Read More" link to redirect to the desired destination page you can use the URL of the article as the "Shortcut URL" and the Desired final location.
So, for example, if my article path is digitalworkplace.com/news/temp_article and when people click there I want them to go to digitalworkplace.com/marketing_kb
I would navigate to the URL shortcuts (found in the admin panel or by going to yourdigitalworkplaceURL/admin/optimization/urlshortcuts
There you would enter "news/temp_article" as the Shortcut URL and "marketing_kb" as the Destination URL, does that help?
