Uploading Files and Folders

Uploading files and folders with the File Manager

A primary use of the File Manager is to add new files or folders to your digital workplace from your computer. By storing the file in your workplace you make it easier for others to view it, comment on it, and contribute to it (depending on their Access Levels). You can only upload to existing Folders and Folder Channels that you have at least Write access to.

Larger files take longer to upload. You can view the status of your current or past uploads on the Status pane.

Considerations and caveats

Upload size limit

You cannot upload files that are larger than 2GB.

Uploading a duplicate of an existing file

When you upload a file with the same name and extension as one that already exists in the same location, you will have the option of uploading the file as a new version of the existing file or as a new file. If you upload as a new file, the name will have a number appended to it to make it unique.
