Is Networked Enterprise right for your organization?

Thinking about creating a network of digital workplaces in your organization, but not sure if it's right for you? There are three primary use cases for setting up and leveraging a networked enterprise configuration:

  1. Regional Offices
  2. Affiliates
  3. External Stakeholders

Regional Offices

Profile

You are a very large organization with thousands of employees located in offices around the world. You have thousands, maybe even tens of thousands of employees who work in very large internal teams. These teams are highly distributed and have complex structures and hierarchies.

Business challenges

  • You want to create a strong team culture and sense of trust across the organization.
  • You want to provide each team with ownership and control over their digital workplace.
  • You want to drive higher employee engagement.
  • You want higher employee and team productivity.
  • You have to deal with local regulatory variations.
  • You want to create trust with your culturally diverse teams.
  • You need to manage collaboration across time zones (e.g. meetings).
  • You need to share knowledge centrally and support multiple languages.

Technology challenges

  • User authentication such as single sign-on (SSO)
  • Scaling a solution for such a large team
  • Search results that will scale
  • Integrating team-specific technologies

Affiliates

Profile

You are a very distributed organization. You have employees and teams located across various companies, geographic regions, time zones, and cultures. This may include business units, affiliate companies, member firms or franchises.

Business challenges

  • You want to connect all of your employees together regardless of where they work.
  • You want to provide destination sites for each of your distributed teams, business or companies.
  • You want each site to be autonomous and controlled by the local team with their own branding, structure, employees, permissions, and language.
  • You want each site to be connected to the corporate head office to receive news, updates, policies, and standard operating procedures.
  • You want to create a strong corporate culture and sense of trust across the organization.
  • You want to improve overall productivity across the organization by leveraging best practices and standard operating procedures.
  • You want to connect communities of practice across the organization (e.g. those who are in the same role).
  • You need to deal with local regulatory variations.

Technology challenges

  • User authentication such as single sign-on (SSO)
  • Scaling a solution for such a large team
  • Search results that will scale
  • Integrating team-specific technologies

External Stakeholders

Profile

Your organization needs to collaborate externally with key stakeholders, but you don't want to provide them with access to your internal digital workplace (e.g. employees only). These stakeholders may include your partners, external contractors, and/or customers.

Business challenges

  • You want to improve communication and collaboration with external stakeholder groups.
  • You want to streamline information sharing (e.g. stop duplication of content).
  • You want to build trust and loyalty with your customers and/or partners.
  • You don't want to provide access to your digital workplace to your external stakeholders.
  • Your security team won't allow external stakeholders (e.g. subcontractors) access to your internal digital workplace.
  • You want to collaborate with your board members without creating a space within your digital workplace.
  • You want to create a partner or customer portal.

Technology challenges

  • User authentication such as single sign-on (SSO)
  • Scaling a solution for such a large team
