Communicating effectively to ensure retention (BP)
Overview
Use the FLR(R) Rule to train employees on the most effective methods for communicating.
Recommendations
- Frequency: Don't over communicate. That just makes noise that employees tune out. Determine a cadence for messaging that's consistent.
- Length: Keep the message short and use bullet points when you can, keeping the most important element at the top.
- Relevant: Be sure you're delivering the right information to the right audience at the right time. Communicate information that is relevant, timely, and valuable. Use subscriptions to ensure delivery of communications.
- Repetition: Communicate messages multiple times using slightly different formats and content to get employees' attention and make it more likely for employees to retain information.
Bonus tip: Until employees are communicating following the FLR(R) rule, moderate posts during training to govern and improve their skills.
