Creating a Networked Enterprise spoke

Enterprise Administrators can create new spokes (digital workplaces) within a Networked Enterprise.  These new spokes use the layout of an existing workplace in the Networked Enterprise. This allows administrators to create new workplaces for offices, portals, or organizations, following a standardized layout.

It takes up to 24 hours to deploy a new spoke.

Note: All new spokes must have a valid DNS record to function. If your organization uses an Igloo owned domain (ex. .igloodigitalworkplace.com), you must contact the Igloo Support Team to have a DNS record created for the spoke. If your organization uses its own custom domain, you must contact your internal IT Team to have a DNS record created for the spoke. 

How to create a Networked Enterprise spoke


  1. While signed into a digital workplace that is part of the Networked Enterprise, click the Control Panel button (adminpng) to open the Control Panel.
  2. Select EAP from under the Resources section of the Control Panel.
  3. On the Communities tab, click the "+ Community" button to begin the spoke creation process.
  4. Enter the following configuration details in the provided window:
    • Title: Enter the name of the spoke.
    • Domain: Enter the URL used by the spoke. This URL must be unique. Typically, organizations have a single domain name and only the subdomain changes. For example, https://www.{spoke subdomain}.{domain}.
    • Template: Select an existing spoke to act as the template for the new spoke. Only workplaces marked as templates are selectable. The new spoke copies the structure of the template spoke but does not include the content and members of the template. If you would like to include content, click the checkbox found underneath the Template selector. When checked, all channel content (excluding Calendars and Tasks) from the templated spoke will be included in the new spoke. The Creator of the new spoke will be made the author of any templated content in the new spoke. 
    • Creator: Select the initial administrator of the spoke. This user also receives a notification when the spoke is ready. The current user is the default creator, but you can select another user with the search functionality of this field. This searches the entire Networked Enterprises membership.
  5. Click Create to complete the creation of the new spoke.
    • After clicking Create, a message appears indicating that the creation request has entered the creation queue. The system sends an email to the creator of the spoke indicating that the spoke is being created and that it takes up to 24 hours for this to occur. Once created, the system sends another email to the creator notifying them that the spoke is ready.
  6. Create a DNS record for your new spoke. 
    • If your organization uses an Igloo owned domain (ex. .igloodigitalworkplace.com), you must contact the Igloo Support Team to have a DNS record created for the spoke.
    • If your organization uses its own custom domain, you must contact your internal IT Team to have a DNS record created for the spoke.
