Channel Templates

Channel Templates

What is it?

Channel Templates let you easily post content using a pre-populated HTML form. They are typically used in areas of your digital workplace that always display content in a similar format, such as standard operating procedures and vacation requests. Channel Templates for blogs, calendars, forums, and wikis use the WYSIWYG editor. Channel Templates for tasks allow you to save and load a list of tasks while maintaining assignees, due dates, importance, and privacy settings.

Use Cases

Reimbursement Requests

Channel templates can be used to help keep a consistent format in forum channels. A useful application of this is to provide a place to make requests for reimbursements. Use the channel template to pre-format the request with headings and instructions.

Standard Operating Procedures

SOPs often have a consistent format that people should follow when creating them. Using a channel template on an SOP wiki channel helps to take the guesswork out of their creation and helps create a more consistent library of procedures.

Features and functionality

Channel Templates are most frequently used when you want to have a consistent structure for content on blogs, calendars, forums, wikis, and tasks. Task templates allow you to save a list of tasks and load them to a Task channel, while the other Channel Templates use the WYSIWYG editor.

Templates for blogs, calendars, forums, and wikis appear in the WYSIWYG editor whenever a new article is being written.

To manage your Task templates select Channel Template on your Task channel’s Action Menu. Existing Task templates will appear under the Load tab. Click on a template to bring up a list of options that determine what other attributes of the saved template should be loaded.
