Ghostwriting Content

Ghostwriting (Publishing content as another member)

Overview

When creating content for Channels in your digital workplace it is possible to publish the content as another member of the digital workplace. This results in the selected member being made the author of the content. As the author this member will have an Access Level for this content based on the Channel’s author access rule. Only members who are part of a group with read level access or higher to a Channel can be assigned as an author of content for that Channel.

A notification is sent to a member when they are added to the Authors list of an article, and once again when the article is published. These notifications will contain the term Moderation Notification in the subject line, and will indicate who performed this action.

How to publish your content as another member

1. Create your content and save it as a draft

Create your content on a Channel using any method other than emailing content into the Channel. Select the Save as Draft option when your content is complete.

2. Navigate to your drafts and select the content you would like to publish as another member

Select the To Dos icon on your Userbar, and then the Drafts item from the resulting drop-down. On your Drafts page select the content you would like to publish as another member. This will open the draft view of the content.

3. Add the member to the authors list for the content

On the preview of the content select the green plus icon located in the Authors section. Start entering the member’s name in the Add Author window that appears. As you enter the member’s name, matches will appear in a flyout menu. When you see the correct member select them, and then select Add.

Users who would not normally have Access to the content can be added as an author this way. They will be able to view the draft content, edit it, and add notes. However, they cannot publish it, but original authors or users with at least Edit Access can publish it on their behalf. Authors added this way will inherit the Channel's Author Access rule on the content when it is published.

4. Publish the article selecting the member’s name from the Publish As dropdown

Select the Publish button. The first dropdown will allow you to select any of the added authors from the previous step as the author of the article. Only one may be selected. Select Publish again to publish this content as the author, and on the Channel, you have selected.

How to publish in moderation and in draft content as another member

1. On a Channel where content is sitting in draft or awaiting moderation, navigate to the Manage page and select the content you would like to publish as another member

On the Channel select the Action Button and then select the Manage option. You will need edit level access or higher to see other Member’s content. If you are assigned as a moderator for the Channel, you will have the equivalent of edit level access. Locate the content you would like to publish either under the Drafts tab or the In Review tab depending on whether the content was saved as a draft or sent to moderation. Select the content to open up its preview.

2. Add the member to the authors list for the content

On the preview of the content select the green plus icon located in the Authors section. Start entering the members name in the Add Author window that appears. As you enter the member’s name matches will appear in a flyout menu. When you see the correct member select them, and then select Add.
