A blog series focused on building an effective HR Hub in your digital workspace.
As the HR Business Partner at Igloo, I realized our team needed a centralized space for employees and leaders to access HR content in more of a self-service format. That’s why I created the “HR Corner” in our digital workspace. With Igloo’s HR programs continuously evolving, the HR Corner allows our team to publish the most up-to-date HR content in one centralized location, making it easily accessible to everyone.
Organize Your Content
The first step to creating our HR Hub was to identify sub-categories for organizing content: Recruiting Zone, Onboarding Center, Talent Center and Performance. We created icons and brief descriptions for each HR sub-category to help users find the type of the content or HR topic they’re looking for quickly and easily.
Frequently Asked Questions
I receive many requests from employees about where to find information about their benefits, how to book time off, perks and other basic administrative tasks. In response to this high demand for administrative information, I created a Quick Links area in our HR Corner. The Quick Links section offers staff a more convenient self-serve opportunity to complete these common administrative tasks. With fewer requests of this nature, my HR team can focus their time on other, more engaging projects instead of answering administrative questions or directing employees to where they can find specific information.
Drive Adoption of Programs
The new HR Corner also drives adoption of our HR programs. Not only do our employees find it easier to locate the resources they need, but they also have the opportunity to provide feedback directly to the HR team with the option to reference specific HR documents. The HR Corner gives our employees a voice, allowing them to ask questions and share ideas, ultimately helping our HR team continuously improve our programs and corporate culture.
Popular Areas of HR Corner
I’m very happy to see that currently, the most popular areas of Igloo’s HR Corner are the Talent Center and our Referral Program. These areas help our employees spread the word about new opportunities with our organization. The popularity of these areas validates the HR team’s efforts in creating a strong culture. It’s clear that not only do our team members want to grow their careers with us, they want to actively promote our organization to others.
