On July 7, there's a release that will involve scheduled downtime maintenance of the Igloo platform. Typically a release wouldn't require downtime, but this release includes a large number of updates to the database, and changes to the underlying architecture of the Igloo platform. They're the underpinnings of several modes of continuous improvement, and will support the development of future functionality.
This downtime will affect all digital workplaces, and will begin on Friday, July 6th, at 10PM Eastern. The platform is estimated to be offline for 18 hours during maintenance. The rollout was delayed from the usual Wednesday night release in order to reduce customer impact, by aligning with the July 4th holiday in the US. It was set for Friday to Saturday in order to accommodate clients in Australia and New Zealand, who aren't observing a holiday that Monday.
All digital workplaces will be unavailable. You won't be able to log in, and will see an offline message. That will include your digital workplace, as well as places like Customer Care. Your Preview instance will still be live and accessible, but will still be subject to the usual restrictions of Preview. When the maintenance is complete, a notification will be sent out from Support to our client mailing list.
No. No data will be removed or adjusted in your digital workplace. It will go down the night of July 6, and come back exactly as it was when the downtime is finished. Most of the changes are infrastructure related, and won't be visible from the front end. The full list of features will be available later this week in the Product Release blog (you'll need to sign in to view that one).
For the most part, enjoy your weekend. It's scheduled to start and finish outside of work hours, so you shouldn't notice any interruption. For clients who do work on weekends, suspend any announcements, and download any files you may require during downtime. Preview will be online, so you can consult policies and work there, but there are a few restrictions: the Preview environment is only accessible to site Administrators, and it never sends emails or notifications.
We'll have some additional announcements as the maintenance window approaches, and we want to make this as seamless a process as possible. if you have any additional questions, leave a comment here, and we'll make sure they're addressed.
