It's been a year since the first grab bag, and there are still countless questions left to answer. While we avoid digging deep into the meaning of life, the universe, and everything, we can answer everything Igloo-related. Thanks to everyone who submitted questions, use-cases, and specific situations for us to explore.
This is a common question, especially around policy reviews and migrations. Both wikis and folders support versioning, but in slightly different ways. Wiki articles are straightforwardly versioned. Every change to a wiki article creates a new version, including changes to attached files and related links. Changes to the text can be reviewed and compared from the version option available in the sidebar.
File versions on the other hand, can be added from a number of sources. Edits to a file's description or title will create a new version, as will changes to the Related Links area. In addition, entirely new files can be added through the version interface available in the sidebar, letting you replace a file with an update, or even change the format. Finally the Desktop Tool updates file versions when a document is opened and saved.
In all cases, the versions attached to an article or file remain for as long as it's present in the digital workplace, and are always accessible by Administrators, making it easy to walk back through updates.
Members can be subscribed to Channels and content by Administrators and Space Administrators, and will receive notifications from new content, comments, and updates. However, members are also the final guardians of their inboxes, and can use the Subscriptions option in their profiles to change the cadence of those notifications or unsubscribe from them entirely. Subscriptions set by members will always take precedence over those set by Administrators.
Absolutely! Attachments to articles are indexed in search. That include the text in files like .pdfs or Word documents, letting you search their contents. Attachments to comments, like comments themselves, are not indexed in search, and cannot currently be searched for.
