Here's what you need to know about the April 2020 Product Release.
What's included in the April Product Release?
Introduction of threaded comments
Comments are at the heart of user engagement. They allow users to take part in conversations related to content in their digital workplace. Currently, users can comment directly on content, but are restricted to replying to other users' comments directly. In this release, users can now reply to comments in the form of nested replies. This concept is known as threaded comments. With this feature enhancement, users can organize conversations by isolating specific points of conversations nested within the comment threads and post replies to extend discussions in any existing conversation.
Comment threads are limited to three levels - parent, child and grand-child. Digital workplace users can now reply to a parent comment at a second (child) level and also reply to a third (grand-child) level comment. Replies to comments will display with an indentation in layout. Comment indentation is not supported past a third level comment. Users will bewhen another user replies to their comment.
This feature is available for blogs, files, forums, calendar events, and wiki channels and articles.
Call to Action widget enhancements
Call to Actions or CTAs can be used to provide a way for administrators to help drive traffic to a location in their digital workplace. This encourages users to explore new areas, including the latest news or to the most commonly viewed Channels, Pages or Spaces. In this release, there are two key enhancements made to the CTA widget to increase user productivity.Dynamically update CTA header values
- When an administrator is configuring the CTA widget, the system will dynamically updates the CTA header when a Link text is provided. With a "Description" layout, the CTA header will be updated with title text and a link text in the header to ensure there is a smooth transition between the layout options as the user navigates around the various layout options.
- Administrators can now change the order of the CTAs using drag and drop for each CTA. Users can only drag one CTA at a time to re-order them. This feature is only available when there is more than one CTA available.
Introduction of Spellcheck in Search Query
Spellcheck for single words and words in phrases will be supported as part of this release. This enhancement leverages the existing interface to improve the overall accessibility and usability of the search function. This results in a reduction in time and effort required by a user to complete a successful search. In addition, the new Spellcheck feature will increase the relevancy of the searches by supporting custom words in the workplace.
The Spellcheck feature can be initiated from any search function within the digital workplace. Once executed, users will be presented with results on Advanced Search page. Spellcheck will present alternative spelling if five or less results are returned or if alternative spelling is found for a word in a phrase. Alternative words will present a new Search Query for the users to initiate.
Spellcheck is currently supported in 12 languages and applies to all current content types currently searchable in the Igloo platform with the exception of member name searches and will not suggest combining or splitting of member names. Spellcheck dictionaries are built from content titles in the current language and allows Spellcheck to suggest custom words in a workplace. The results will be limited until content is added to the site with those words. When the content is indexed, the dictionary content for spellcheck words is created. The dictionary content for Spellcheck words is updated dynamically when content is added, updated or removed.
File Manager updates
Igloo's File Manager application allows digital workplace users to manage existing content and upload new content. As part of this release, we've made iconography updates, resolved minor bug issues and introduced automatic detection of existing files being uploaded again to ensure duplicate files are not uploaded.
Don't have File Manager? Download the Beta version of the application to manage your files and folders easily.
