Preview... for the WIN!
So, it's been less than 24 hours that we've had the email preview statistics, and it has been an amazing game changer! Yesterday, or Chief Safety Officer brought our President and COO and an EVP into his office with me, just to talk about how excited and thankful he is for this release. Our company is split between office and field team members. We have 99% engagement with the office -- and about 45% engagement with the field. But, less in the 18 hours since our Safety message was posted, we have more than 1,000 views, which means 66% the company as opened the email (minusdouble opens). This is HUGE with us, and is now spurring conversation about how we can look at engagement differently - and how we can work to drive accountability further with communication and messaging. Thank you SO much for this release. This is such an amazing boost to our team, our data, and to our awareness. Please continue to see how can further evolve engagement statistics - because updates like this are what's extremely meaningful to us!

WOW!!!! awesome email!! It is a game changer for sure. Even personally I notice a difference in seeing how many more views are actually via email.
Yay Kim!
Thanks for the feedback and the good news, Kim!
Kim Hughes, thank you so much for sharing this feedback!! Excited that your experience has been so positive with this. Woohoo!!!
Kim Hughes Thank you so much for sharing your feedback with us here! So many Igloo Customers have a large number of field team members which can pose a challenge when measuring engagement.
As you make decisions regarding new ways to drive accountability, please post here so we all can learn from you - or offer feedback.
Everyone: We are very interested in hearing about what has your experience been with this new feature?
If you're reading this and have no idea what we are talking about - here is a link to July's Release Notes!

Two pieces of feedback for enhancements: 1. the ability to export activity based on preview, downloads, etc. 2. To be able to suppress duplicate previews, and only count unique opens (or have the ability to view both). I can add this to the product ideas if you want, but I figured that I would start here.
Hi again Kim Hughes, we have recently updated our Measuring Success are in the Playbook. I know you'll find this helpful.
Yes, this is awesome! Thank you so much, Diana!
You are very welcome!
Agreed - a great enhancement and much appreciated! We too have the majority of our global team working remote and/or international. I echo Kim Hughes' suggestions to see unique vs duplicate previews.
Kim Hughes - awesome way to get engagement numbers where you couldn't before! This is a nice feature and good insight to drive it forward - kudos to the Igloo team.
Not to be a buzzkill, but two thoughts:
1. If folks have their Outlook set to Preview mode, it effectively opens the email in their preview window even if they never actually open the email. This gets counted as an open/preview (we run into this same issue with counting open rates in our mass email system - Outlook Preview mode inadvertently inflates our numbers).
2. Posted a blog the other day and did not broadcast it, but have 102 previews for it. If we have that many people with instant notifications set for that specific channel that would be great, but I'm wondering if that blog showing up in a feed might kick off the preview?
Thanks Andrew Jayne - Thanks for posting! Regarding your first preview comment - I often read notifications within my preview window but do click through should the article not be fully displayed. It's a difficult thing to be truly accurate with preview turned on, but I believe most would like to have these numbers included in views, (even if it's not a clicked through view and only read it preview even partially.)
I'm not sure what you mean in your second point - I'm going to ask Jim Tigwell to weigh in to provide feedback on this.
Thanks!
Hi Andrew,
Only notifications will log as Previews. That includes broadcasts, instant notifications, and @mentions. Blog posts viewed through widgets won't record a view until the member clicks the read more to access the whole thing.
Andrew Jayne thanks also for the post. The points you make above were noted by the Dogfood team as well (internal here at Igloo) and we are addressing ways to add in Unique views and the like so look for advancements to how we track this in near future.

Read your comment with interest, Brian McIlravey . Counting unique opens and previews will be what brings me from "meh" to "yay!" on this feature, so thank you for addressing it! Our first experience with this feature was a blog post from a Director that generated over 60 previews in about 6 minutes...that's huge for a small company like ours. But then we realized that over 40 of those were one staff member who...just checks email a lot? Not sure what triggered all the repeat activity, but it was a buzz kill to say the very least.
Nathan Greener The last few messages here might answer your question regarding previews and unique opens with email notifications. Hope this helps!
Thanks, Doina Plesoianu. This is what I expected the functionality would be. I agree with the comments that unique views would be helpful. Even better, an understanding of how long people spend on the email. This is a feature of the email tracking tool we use which replaced broadcasts/auto-subscriptions.
Hi Nathan Greener! It's fabulous to see you here! Thank you for your comments around unique views.
Julie Forsythe Sean Duffy Dan Latendre can you see the note above from Jocelyn Flint regarding the counts on Email reads. I think we hit it there early that we need to address that a little tighter.
Thanks for the post Jocelyn Flint
Kim Hughes - Thank you you kicking off this conversation, we're so happy to hear about the immediate positive impact this feature has had for your organization!
Jocelyn Flint, Nathan Greener, Andrew Jayne, Chelsey Louzeiro - There are a number of enhancements we are considering to build on this feature (including breaking out unique views from total views), it always helps to hear directly from our customers to help us validate and prioritize those enhancements, please keep the feedback coming!
