Forum Widget - Sort by Filters
Forums are a tool that some teams are using to do things that one might not think of using them to do. Currently one of our team uses a forums channel/widget to track ownership of notebooks, and manage the sharing of confidential information. Alternatively, another team is using several forums to manage non-project work assignments/efforts, capture of task record in relationship to a topic, facilitate communication with managers, and most creatively as an agenda to conduct team meetings. Description of how this works is a bit complex, but the idea that widgets like forums are being used for more than their intended use is something we know that developers must consider . Currently we are trying to make the "Show" and "Sort" by filters work for our purpose, but I must admit that end-users are a bit disappointed by the sort options currently available. Our teams brainstormed to come up with a universal sort by option that could help both teams and this is what we came up with. We would like to see a Alpha/Numeric "Sort by" option. From our perspective, it offers teams a new and helpful way to view their lists of forum topics. Displays could be set in ascending/descending order, based on entries made in the "Title" field. Not 100% confident, I would like to put the idea out their and ask if anyone has a use cases that would be challenged by the addition of an alpha numeric "Sort by" option? If not, I would like to request development of this tool, adding a new sort option. Any thoughts???

Curious of your thoughts Andrea Gumz-Dietrich ?
Karen Schneidmiller Thanks for suggesting this - I agree that there is some utility to this. Let's also put this in the ideation portal (see below image with embedded link. It will be seen by more customers and viewed and prioritized by our product team.
While our developer relations team may have some ideas, they typically work with costumer devloper teams and external developers to build enhancements, integrations and applications that augment the digital workplace experience.
