Its also worth while getting customers to 'think out side the box' when it comes to naming their community. Aligning to company brand and thinking to a Digital Workplace works really well.
Mike Rocco and the team at Hulu - use Huluverse and their team are Hulugans - Brillaint.
One of our clients - Cavtotec - called it Cavonet - lovely
But i also like how our friends from Meysan Partners in Kuwait went with - Diwaniya - Literally translated as 'the meeting area' - I love it.
Think outside the box!
Igloo on ......
Ours is called Melya, an anagram of Lemay, the name of our company. The word Melya sounds like a first name, and thus gives life to this office assistant who can inform you about everything concerning the company. No one ever mentions the Intranet here, it's always about Melya.
paul Carter you're right! so many creative minds!
I also like the name 'Huluverse' Jared Cohen-Richards did you know it's so popular?
Pierre-Olivier Ferland, I like the name of the name yours too - almost personifying your digital workplace.
Andrew Jayne and Lisa Murray - any chance you'd share the names of your DW? or your social space?
Diana May — It is indeed a popular one It helped get it so deeply integrated into our workforce.
Jared Cohen-Richards and build culture I bet!
At Cigna we named our intranet Iris, our social collaboration space is Cigna Social (a carryover from our old intranet) and our general employee blogging space is called Watercooler.
Part of our ongoing communications around Iris includes a biweekly video series (90-second episodes) called Dear Iris. We run it like a Dear Abbey scenario where employees "mail in" questions and we answer them (Iris is always conveniently away doing something so no one knows what she looks like). It's an avenue for tips and tricks around the site.
On weeks we don't do Dear Iris, we run a podcast (3 minute episodes) called Eyes on Iris where we highlight content employees may have missed over the past two weeks. We've seen readership jump 20% after an episode points folks to highlighted content.
Can you tell we like naming things? ;)
Andrew Jayne , great work Andrew, love the thinking and giving something a name really does personalise all that you wrap around it. Would love to see one of the video blogs if appropriate. The thing i love about Igloo is our shared learnings - what a community - good skills :-)
Andrew Jayne I would really like to build campaigns based on your Dear Iris and Eyes on Iris ideas, to add to our Campaign Library.
Does the Digital Workplace team take turns answering the Dear Iris questions? How do you record the answers and the podcasts? (Even iphones have excellent video and recording quality and would be easy to use.)
paul Carter I couldn't agree with you more!
Thank you!
Hey, paul Carter and Diana May - I can probably do a screenshare sometime (videos are housed on our internal video hosting platform so can't share a link, unfortunately). Feel free to connect with me separately if you want to set up a time.
We just shoot with a smart phone using an external mike (Zoom Recorder - not to be confused with Zoom video conferencing) and include a screen-capture portion (use WebEx to record that part) then marry the three files using iMovie. For podcasting, we have a small rig up in the studio (it's semi-professional - at least it feel that way cause you wear headphones and talk into a big mike).
Thank you Andrew Jayne for the offer! Would you be ok with opening the screenshare to the community? I would be happy to host a Zoom meeting for the demonstration if that's something you'd be interested in.
Dan Latendre I love the podcast idea - what do you think?
Love it!
Darren Greenough This is what I mentioned earlier - great idea I'm sure you want to know about.
Sure, I'd be happy to. If the video translates well over zoom - great. If it has heartburn, then maybe we could just do the podcast.
Amazing Andrew Jayne I'll reach out directly to schedule with you!
