Ideas for content during these tough times
Our firm is very fortunate to have the ability to work from home (WFH) so we are trying to maintain business as usual as much as possible. Our site has been instrumental in maintaining communication with our global employees about the pandemic as it has progressed worldwide. Our goal is to also lift people's spirits, provide positivity and keep employees engaged. I'd love to hear ideas of how others are doing this! We are trying to avoid ALL of the communications on our site being BCP related. Thank you in advance for your help!
Here's what we are doing thus far:
- Wellness posts: Ted talks, links to parenting/kids activity sites, webinars, nutrition info, easy links to medical/benefit info
- Hosting a kid's storytime
- Photo of the Day on WFH setups and adventures and next theme is
- Tips on WFH, how to manage other WFH
- Other ideas we have not implemented yet: virtual book club, Made My Day microblog (to document all the little things that make people's day)

Wow - Christina Peschong! This is outstanding. Keen is doing some really interesting things as well. Mindy Montgomery has built out a great section in its Digital Workplace. Mindy, do you have any recommendations for Christina on the things you are doing?
Hi Christina Peschong, Don't tell anyone, because this is top secret. Tomorrow, our ICE Squad (this is the group of Igloo-ites that volunteer to do all of the fun things that build our amazing culture) is going to post toddler pics of some employees and have a contest to see who can identify them. Shhh!! We'll do a few new ones each week - should be fun.
In addition, to stay in touch, each Igloo team is doing their own 'Virtual Coffee' chats so that we can connect as smaller teams like we would in the office.
Our CEO, Jason Hahn is also holding weekly all hands meetings, which we love, because we get see everyone's faces and we really feel connected - we are all in this together.
Many have shared photos of their WFH workstations, photos of their children or pets on their laps during conference calls, online yoga classes, meditation sites to destress, etc.
As the time goes on, we are getting more and more creative. I'll be sure to add to this discussion as I hear more ideas from my colleagues!
My favourite BY FAR is this video posted by long time Igloo-ite Jean Le - It's AMAZING:
Andrea Gumz-Dietrich Doina Plesoianu Rick Batchelor Roxana Lovrekovic Arlene Bautista What have you been hearing from people you've been connecting with?
Igloo on...
Christina,
Thank you for sharing all of the incredible things that you are doing with your team. We continue to hear from many of our customers how they are leveraging their Igloo platform to help with many of these initiatives. Please keep sharing, stay safe, and as always, please let Igloo know how we can help.
We're getting a lot of traction with our microblog as we host virtual meetups there a few times a week, starting the conversation with a new topic each time.
We're also using Instagram live to host a morning show for our colleagues, interviewing different team members about their new WFH realities.
We have set up a hub for our clinicians to access COVID-19 information and just launched an audio series called Friday Forum to update everyone on what's happening with our teams who are on the front lines in our hospital programs. Also created an Acts of Kindness forum where teammates can share uplifting stories.
We have a Pandemic/Disease page that has all of the leader communications and information for employees. It is a serious page with all serious content. We have a button link in our header that goes to the Pandemic/Disease page and we have numerous news carousel and headline items that go to specific content.
But we all need an outlet, so this week we launched The Lighter Side that is linked off of the Pandemic/Disease page. The Lighter Side has three forum channels with seven discussion threads that everyone is invited comment on to share their photos, stories, tips, etc. The channels/discussion are:
Even with only one promotion of The Lighter Side on Monday, it has been quite popular this week with steady comments flowing in all week. Nearly 300 comments so far.
We also have a public-facing podcast called MindSET. The current edition is a podcast by our Chief Medical Office, Dr. Don Kosiak. You can listen to it here: Insights on COVID-19 from our Chief Medical Officer.
Dr. Kosiak has also been participating this week's leader meetings to answer questions from managers and employees which has been well received.
The COVID section of our site is a mix of both serious and fun.
The serious includes a COVID Communications blog and an Internal Resources page with key contacts, resources, links (see below for groupings), etc.
The fun includes a Staying Positive blog (pets, recipes, puzzles, books, meditation, crafting, etc) and a Gotta Laugh microblog with funny COVID related memes and links to funny articles and videos (such as the homemade treadmills and WFH fantasy versus reality).
Feel free to reach out if you want to see more!
Thank you to everyone that have shared examples of how you and your teams are using your Igloo Digital Workplace to keep your employees engaged and informed during this crisis. I love reading the examples and am incredibly proud of the fact that we get to work with such a great group of customers. Thank you for all that you are doing during these unprecedented times.
P.S. I may have to borrow the Quarantunes idea!
Quarantues and Show Us Your Pets are the most popular ... I had to turn off notifications for those two
