Corporate values on your Igloo
We're going to be launching a new set of corporate values in early 2020. I'm curious what you've done with values on your site. How have you put a spotlight on them? Do they have any kind of a permanent presence on your home page? Do you have a way for employees to give kudos to peers for exemplifying your values, or submit other values-related content?
(Thanks to Chris Smith for sharing Quicken Loans' experience with me earlier today!)

We have a Recognition Center that we built ourselves, though it's modeled after an Igloo solution. Our mission statement and values are posted there. Then, we have two ways to give recognition. Anyone (at any level) can give anyone else (at any level) a Hero Award. The Hero Award has to explain how that person went above and beyond the call of duty to reflect our values and work towards our mission. We also have Bragging Rights wherein each month, a different team brags about a project they are working on that others might not know about. Their brag needs to tie the project back into our overall values and mission.
So basically, one way to recognize others, one way to recognize yourself, but both tie into the larger picture.
Hi Karen Rogers,
I know that Jessica Johnston and team at OMA, have implemented an integration with Bonus.ly that focuses on the promotion of their values. Jessica Johnston perhaps you might share a print screen?
At Igloo, we have built our Kudos Corner so that when someone is nominated, it must be tied to one of our values, and they're listed on the Kudos Corner homepage. (very similar to the format that Jocelyn Flint describes) Here is a screenshot:
Chelsey Louzeiro is presenting on December 11th, the awards program she has developed in a Community Event. Here is the link to register: Heifer International Presents: Building an Award Winning Points Program with Igloo
Everyone - we look forward to hearing about, and seeing screenshots of your own recognition ideas!
Here's a screenshot of our Recognition Centre which includes the Bonus.ly integration (StaffApplause) and our recognition blog series (StaffSpotlight). Every bonus given out through StaffApplause is required to include one of our values through the hashtags and while our StaffSpotlight blog series doesn't require a reference to our values, it usually happens organically!
Bonus.ly has been helpful in keeping our values in mind through day-to-day work, and we also ensure to embed the values in many of our corporate communications. There are quite a few physical reminders around the office through posters and wall murals as well as written reinforcements through blog posts and CEO updates.
Happy to chat more about this!
Jocelyn Flint, which channels/widgets are you using for that? We're considering using a forum, but we don't like that the way that info is displayed seems to put the spotlight on the person doing the recognition more than the person being recognized.
Rachel Marcus - Check out this thread.
Hi Karen, we do use a Forum for that. We set the Forum Topics widget so that the user photo of the poster does not display. And then we set a channel template that asks posters to title their post with the name of the recipient. That way, the page at-a-glance just shows a list of all receive recipients. Make sense?
