Celebrating the upcoming Olympics on your Igloo
We are so excited for the Olympics to be coming up - an event that we can celebrate on our intranet because it is global! I'm curious if/how others are planning to celebrate. Our brainstorm so far includes:
- A blog post series on "My Olympics Connection" where we feature a few employees who have friends or family or are just super passionate about a particular sport and can get everyone excited about watching it and give a personal connection/story.
- Pictures or a quick blurb about the Olympian you thought you would be when you were 5 yrs. old.
- Add a countdown clock on the homepage
- Daily facts about the little known sports, fun facts about the Olympics
1 Conclusion
Brad Rooke Christina Peschong We're full steam ahead with our Core Values Olympics! We're tying in our organization's core values to the games by creating an area to share stories about how teammates have displayed them. There will be a forum, a photo gallery to display festivities, USA medal count, and games like a Teamwork Relay Race (scavenger hunt).
Our CEO is the "Master of Ceremonies" and our five Chiefs are going to be Team Captains of a designated Core Value!
To communicate the CVO we'll have:
- Videos from our leaders embedded in newsroom communications that describe the core value and its importance. Plus some fun like questions about their favorite Olympic sport, etc.
- A Leader Challenge -- we're challenging our leaders to recognize their entire team on our recognition platform over the course of the two weeks.
- "Gold Medal Moments" - leaders and teammates can submit stories that they feel deserve a 'gold medal.' These stories will be featured in newsroom articles over the course of the second week of the Olympics.
We're still finalizing the communications plan and all of the details, but it's going to be a lot of fun! If you can't tell, I LOVE the Olympics and it's such a good way to bring people together. I'd love to see what everyone's teams do!

This is a great post Christina Peschong ! Last week's ICE Tour had a great presentation (Day 2 Session 2) from Cristina Herrera talking up the hype about the Olympics as well! Love to see some more ideas in this thread!

Christina Peschong love this idea!
Anyone have any links to possibly add an RSS feed for live updates or upcoming game schedules?
Stephanie Rees - I would suspect ESPN might be of use here - their Olympic feed is https://www.espn.com/espn/rss/oly/news - there will likely be others that come to light as we get closer to the games, medal trackers and so forth, but tested this one out and it worked just fine.
This is really awesome! I can't wait to hear about what you do on our next call.
