Administrative Professionals Day
Administrative Professionals Day is April 21st - is anyone planning a fun way to recognize their admin team on their Igloo? We were hoping to do something fun beyond just a post and just started the brainstorming sessions. Thanks!
1 Conclusion
Prior to closing this thread, I have to confess I'm interested... Christina Peschong and all the folks who contributed...what did you end up doing? Any success stories to share? We'd love to hear them!

This is a really great idea, Christina. I can't wait to hear what you come up with.
I read about a company that came up with a quiz about their Administrative Professionals so the rest of the employees could learn new things about their Admin Team. I thought it was a really neat idea and a way to highlight all of the awesome things the team does all year round.
If you're looking for something fun and goofy, you could go the route of the Oh Baby! Campaign, we have in Igloo Customer Care. You could even tweak it to make it your own.
Dustin Sweeney - You do Employee Appreciation incredibly well, do you have any ideas for Christina?
Veronica Hayes - I love this! I know Tom Ryan has some engagement champions in mind - Tom, any thoughts?
Brad Rooke, I can definitely think of a few superstars! But there is a specific event that a customer just shared with me that I think would be a truly great fit if re-jigged just a little bit.
The event/game is called "Aliens have landed". It's a very popular social ice-breaking game that gets people engaging with nothing more than some creative muscle-flexing. *warning silly alert*
Aliens have landed - creative group game
SCENARIO: The aliens have landed icebreaker is a popular game for teams with remote participants who have language and cultural differences.
RULES: Tell the business to imagine an alien spaceship has landed on Earth and wants to learn about your Admin Team. But since they don’t speak English or understand what admins are, it needs to be explained with 1 - 2 symbols or pictures. Ask each participant to upload a simple image to the post that best describes and communicates how special your Admin Team really is. Take a few minutes and look at all the images - maybe make a collage to give them after the event. Celebrate them in style with a little bit of fun and goofiness!
Melissa Dignam - you just did a record-crushing social "thank you" exercise. Any words of wisdom on how you set up such a homerun of a one-day event?
Angela Williams - calling you out for this! Your pet charity picture battle royale was a top-shelf idea, anything you can share regarding that event for the folks here?
Hannah Cook - you created a social scene from nothing, any mad science you can impart here? :D
Tom Ryan - this is gold! You've delivered as expected. ;)
Tom Ryan - not sure about mad science But some ideas that we've done to get to know people are:
*Two truths and a lie
*Match the baby picture with High School Grad picture - we have some true gems with this one :)
*Bingo (except the squares are filled with things to do such as 'take a walk outside' or 'learn a new language') - you may be able to use this in a way to fill the squares with information about the employee you're getting to know
Hope this helps!
Thanks, Hannah Cook! these are solid ideas to tuck into the ole back pocket.
I cringe love the high school photo one, ha!
Veronica Hayes I love the idea of a quiz! You could even take it a step further and use GIFs for the correct answer vs the not correct answers. Angela Williams created an amazing interactive quiz like this.
Hi Tom Ryan. A few things I believe contributed to our success:
1) We engaged our leaders the day before, asking them to kick things off the next morning.
2) We asked employees to tag each other and continue paying it forward.
3) We offered an incentive of a draw for a giftcard for those who participated, though I will say that we had enough participation this year that we'll likely drop this next year :)
Melissa Dignam thank you!
"We learned to dance via conga lines" so the above makes so much sense.
Simple and clear calls to action that start at the top are always the most powerful.
This is pretty awesome. I love all of the things happening up above.
Cristina Herrera, have you ever thought about running a campaign for Administrative Professionals Day? or done anything like this?
Veronica Hayes Super cute! We haven't done a specific day's worth of stuff, but monthly we post birthdays, promotions, and milestone work anniversaries. We do have other celebrations in the works so I'm going to keep an eye on this thread
Cristina Herrera There are definitely some really great ideas being shared!
Christina Peschong great idea to run a recognition event on Admin Pro Day! Tom Ryan I have this as an agenda item to brainstorm on at our next meeting.
Re the interactive quiz set up for anyone interested in duplicating it I used an html widget on the homepage and placed quiz content in the widget with hyperlinks to 2 wikis, one wiki was the correct answer and the other wiki was for the wrong answer. We've used the quiz to feature different employees and follow a 2 truths & a lie format - 2 truths hyperlink to the correct wiki answer and the lie goes to the wrong answer wiki. Lots of room for creativity here using Giphy's, jpgs and other fun content!
Angela Williams thank you! It's such a great format you built. So simple and so much fun for users to experience.

Brad Rooke I would really love to hear about it as well!!
